Traditional Plant Medicine and Ayahuasca Healing Center in Iquitos, Peru.

Medicine

Ayahuasca and Kambo have recently emerged into the consciousness of the Western world for their transformative healing properties.  Anecdotally, people who have journeyed with these medicines recognize the potential for immense personal growth. And now, largely due to access to information, new empirical research demonstrates Ayahuasca’s efficacy in treating deeply rooted trauma and subsequent manifestations, such as addiction and depression.  These incredible medicines merely scratch the surface but are often people’s first introduction to the world of traditional plant medicine. For those searching to dive deeper in the plant medicine world, our Curanderos provide crucial guidance for clients attempting to engage in dieta, or diet.

About Us

The Otorongo Center is located on 100 hectares of pristine, untouched, jungle.  This sacred land has been in the same family for more than 3 generations.  All generations have spent time in dieta here.  They feel that the medicine comes first, and with this center they have the honor and privilege to act as stewards and advocates for the plants.  Mary Juliana, a well-respected Shipibo healer from outside Pucallpa, runs our retreats. Otorongo is the local name for Jaguar, an important animal in Amazonian culture.  With our work, we attempt to honor the Spirit of the Jaguar, which serves as a protector, watching over and providing guidance for those who choose to journey with the plants.

Testimonials

Siobahn, 26, Canada- “Having worked with Ayahuasca at a different retreat center in Pucalpa that didn’t feel very inclusive and wanting to do a Women’s-only retreat, I was thrilled when I heard about the Otorongo Center from a friend.  I spent 14 days dieting with Chiric Sanango under the eye of the Shaman.  Then I did a 14 Day Kambo/Ayahuasca Women’s Retreat.  It was great to be surrounded by such strong, like-minded women.  On the nights without ceremonies we sat up until the wee hours and talked. It’s strange how deep a connection we were able to foster in such a short period of time.  I would recommend the Otorongo Center to all travelers”

William, 55, United States- “Beautiful Place. Beautiful people. Great Ayahuasca Center. What else can you say?”

Dylan, 30, France- “Lot of back and forth with Luke before booking. This made me little nervous because I needed to give much personal information and medical information. But when I got to the group I understood why. Luke and Guido put lots of work in to make a good group. Everybody clicked with everybody. We did integration talked that helped make great experience.  Good times to smoke Mopacho with a great group of people! Cheers from Montpellier!”
